In the spirit of Halloween, I think it’s only fitting that we pay our respects to the largest cemetery in the entire Southeast. The grounds of Westview Cemetery are beautiful, including an impressive, historic Mausoleum with a gorgeous courtyard, winding staircases, and wonderfully ornate stained glass in the chapel. We will meet outside the Mausoleum, in the parking lot (it’s way in the back, see below for details).
There is so much to see and shoot here! We will spend some time exploring the Mausoleum, and then spread out among the grounds on foot. This place is pretty big, so expect some walking, including hills.
I might suggest wide angle, prime and zoom lens options, as well as any polarizing or ND filters you may like to shoot with during the day. Bring a tripod if you want to shoot long exposures indoors (pending access, of course). I personally plan to bring a few props just for fun, and you can too, but please clean up after yourself and take any items you bring with you when you leave.
Parking & MARTA: Enter the main gate (at Ralph David Abernathy Blvd. & Westview Drive), and head all the way thru, to the back where the Mausoleum is (don’t park at the front gate/main office, park by the Mausoleum). It’s a pretty large building, so it’s hard to miss.
West Lake is the closest MARTA Station, (Blue Line) and it’s about 1.2 miles.
